This is a weekend and busy holiday position.
The food expediter is responsible for ensuring that orders are prepared correctly and delivered to customers in a timely manner. They work to maintain the efficiency of both the kitchen and the dining room, and may assist servers and oversee the movement of orders from the guest to the table.
Here are some of the duties of a food expeditor:
- Manage order flowEnsure orders are prepared in time, and plan and manage the order flow from waiters to the kitchen
- Check dishesConfirm that orders are made correctly, and check dishes for accuracy and presentation
- Assist with preparationHelp with the final preparation of dishes, and may add garnishes or condiments
- Maintain quality and sanitationEnsure adherence to quality and sanitation rules and regulations, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen
- Handle customer complaintsTake care of customers with special needs and requests, and ensure excellent client service
- Coordinate with staffAct as a contact point between the kitchen and wait staff, and coordinate between kitchen staff and serversÂ
Food expeditors should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Additional job requirements may include prior experience in a restaurant setting and knowledge of food safety standards.Â
